As I type, my girlfriend is in the airport, an hour's drive away from me, passing through on her way from San Diego CA to home in ohio. I stink. I just got back from nailing floorboards into a house that my cousin is contracted to for floors. part-time summer job. Anyway, dinner is hamburger helper. yum! Then shower, for an hour, then job-hunting online. blah blah blah. I'm sorry I've been ignoring you, blog. I'm lazy, and I have lots of books to read. I started Dragonlance Legends 1: Time of the Twins yesterday, and finished it this morning in the van to work. Leaving me nothing to read on the drive back, but that's ok. I can always talk to people. It's not too painful [grins]. It's good, but a cliffhanger because the Cataclysm just started, i.e. the gods threw a fiery mountain at the city our heroes (and heroine, and villian) are in, for the impudence and corruption of faith of the spiritual leaders. Raistlin traveled back in time to steal another great evil mage's power, and Caramon (his twin brother, a fighter) and Chrysania (a true cleric who thinks she can convince Raistlin to give up his evil path by her example of goodness) and Tasslehoff, a kender (think a halfling with wanderlust, immunity to fear, and racial heritage of kleptomania) who isn't supposed to be there, and therefore could alter history (the humans can't) have traveled back to find and stop him. Of course they haven't. There are two more books. [grins] Anyway, Raistlin's plan is to challenge the evil goddess Takhesis in her own home and defeat her to become the new god of evil. Everyone is worried because he just might succeed... [grins] Ok, shower time. Have a good (safe) flight, love.

Fourth of July parties are always fun. As long as no one catches on fire. I partied with my best friend and his wife as per usual, with my girlfriend and several of Charles' good friends. The party started a little slowly, but it got fun very quickly, though as in all situations, there was no particular thing to point to. Charles served tator tots and southwest eggrolls (really really good ones) while we drank rum shots, jello shots (green or orange) also made with rum, or smirnoff ice or smirnoff green apple twists (the last two being "girly" drinks, i.e. they don't taste like alcohol). Many many fun conversations, though we may have gotten a little loud at times, and we eventually broke out Outlaw Volleyball in one room on the X-box (the "boys'" room) and Eddie Izzard in the other (the "girls'" room). We didn't designate them as such, but it ended up splitting in those ways. I learned that sometimes, in volleyball, passing is helpful, but not if your partner doesn't know which button to push either. [grins] and, if you have a large mouth like me, you can take jello shots with much less hassle: take a sip of water at the same time and the jello shot will float in your mouth (so you won't taste it) and you can swallow it all at once. Anyway, breakfast at noon at Denny's, and then the movie Outbreak in the afternoon to finish up (most people napped during it. Except me. I can't sleep through movies). All in all, the only thing that detracted from the evening was that one person not being invited caused a few other people, specifically my brother and girlfriend, to go hang out with that person rather than at the party. I mean, I wasn't complaining, because I hate listening to him, and I hate when he tells me to shut up (and when he's drunk he tells me to shut up more often) but it still put a damper on the beginning of the party. After an hour of drinking, I saw the more positive aspects of it. [laughs] Anyway, gonna watch another movie. My site is acting up, so I hope this posts. Everything seems to work except the url address. [shrugs] I think that's Blogger's problem. Ok, laters.
